Record

Pressing

Program Records opened in 2020 after acquiring two Warmtone pressing machines from Viryl Technologies. Every year we press hundreds of thousands of records for both major and independent labels.

As a boutique pressing plant our emphasis is on quality. We have developed our production process over the years to produce the best record we can, both sonically and physically. We work with our favourite cutting houses and guarantee a meticulous analysis of every single record we sleeve. We ensure all printing components are to the highest standard possible. We pride ourselves on an above 95% approval rate on all test pressings.

Our lacquers are cut by both Optimum Mastering, located in Bristol, England and Dub Plates & Mastering in Berlin, Germany. Our lacquers are then sent to Sheffield, England where our stampers are formed by Stamper Discs. All pressing and packing is completed here at our factory in Thornbury, Victoria.

PRESSING PLANT

1.0

Program Records is a new wave pressing plant guided by traditional record pressing techniques and enhanced by modern engineering. The factory was built from scratch to station a sophisticated and modern fit-out utilising innovative machinery and technology.

WARMTONE

1.1

The pressing plant houses two WarmTone Record Presses, engineered by Toronto based Viryl Technologies. These fully automatic machines were selected due to their fast cycle times, power consumption efficiencies, reduction of PVC wastage and highly accurate replication when manufacturing.

HEATING & COOLING

1.2

To heat our presses we have installed an Australian made state-of-the-art Concept boiler, constructed under the highest standard to ensure consistent and reliable steam. For cooling we use a Fluid Chillers closed loop cooling system, designed for maximum water efficiency.

SUSTAINABILITY

1.3

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as possible. Our machinery has been specifically selected to reduce energy consumption and reduce the amount of faulted records.

Any faulted records are granulated and reused in our regrind records. Excess plastic that cannot be used as regrind compound is processed offsite for use in recycled PVC manufacturing. When you place your order, please enquire if you’d like to use our recycled compound for your records.

All printing is locally supplied and is FSC certified. We frequently work with artists and labels to minimise plastic use in their packaging to avoid single-use plastics.
