Drifting Clouds – Bawuypawuy

Drifting Clouds – Bawuypawuy

$40.00

SKU: N/A Category:

Description

Drifting Clouds’ debut 12″ EP, Bawuypawuy.

The A-side features the infectious original track, with a special extended dub mix by Harvey Sutherland on the B-side. At this stage, the only way to hear the dub version is by purchasing the record.

For those who missed it, Bawuypawuy is the debut release of Drifting Clouds, the solo project of Yolngu musician Terry Guyula. The song is a modern adaptation of a millennia old Songline passed from generations, blending tradition with Guyula’s eclectic musical style.

Guyula sings in his first language: Liyawulma’mirr-Djambarrpuyngu, a language of Yolngu Matha, the lyrics describe a traditional Songline of the sea, waves and currents become stronger, rough and tough in Arnhem Bay (Gupawupa).

The music transcends into euphoria as an airy saxophone soars over an infectious groove like a seabird gliding over the ocean, glued together with Guyula’s dreamy vocals and musical prowess.
